Russell Hobbs Kettle Review
My favourite home appliance has to be my Russell Hobbs kettle. Switching on my kettle is the first thing I do every morning, it is tradition in my life – I can’t function without my morning cup of coffee!!
As a stay at home mother, my kettle is one of the most frequently used appliances in my home. When a friend comes to visit, the most natural thing to do is to go switch on the kettle for a ‘cuppa’. When my children are driving me a little crazy, I take a deep breath and go switch on my kettle. The sound of the bubbling water as it boils and the sound of the water being poured into my cup washes away the stress of daily life. When I am lucky enough to get a lie in on a weekend, I love to hear the ‘click’ of the kettle because this usually means my husband’s footsteps will shortly follow bringing me my morning coffee.
Of course it isn’t just about the functionality of the kettle that is of great importance. These days it is as much about the appearance of the kettle, it has to look good on your kitchen bench. Kettles come in all sorts of styles and colours, from the very basic and traditional to the very sophisticated and futuristic looking kettles. My smart, shiny, stainless steel kettle is modern yet understated. When a guest drops in unexpectedly its mirror like exterior is great for discreetly checking my reflection whilst preparing a pot of tea.
I use my kettle a lot; it therefore needs to be de-scaled on a regular basis. If my kettle could have been designed with a built in de-scaling system, it would be time saving. I polish my kettle on a daily basis to keep it looking nice, clean and shiny. If it could be water and finger mark resistant, that would be an added advantage.
I love the old fashioned whistling kettles; it reminds me of my early childhood. I would love to combine the appearance of my modern kettle with the traditional whistling feature of an old style kettle to let me know when the water has boiled.
